A Water Softener Plant is a water treatment system designed to remove hardness-causing minerals such as calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) from water through the ion exchange process. Hard water can cause scale formation in pipelines, boilers, cooling towers, RO plants, heat exchangers, and industrial equipment, reducing efficiency and increasing maintenance costs. A softener plant produces soft water that improves equipment performance and extends system life
How It Works
Raw hard water enters the softener vessel filled with cation exchange resin. The resin exchanges calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions, producing soft water. When the resin becomes exhausted, it is regenerated using a brine (salt) solution, restoring its ion exchange capacity for continued operation.
